The spandrels in each corner of the field are dyed a warm, rust-red, decorated with symbolic plant motifs that gracefully contrast with the darker centre. Surrounding the field is a finely articulated border with multiple guard bands, the main border featuring stylised palmettes and rosettes on a navy ground, flanked by narrower bands with repeating floral and angular motifs.
