This exquisite vintage Kerman rug from Persia is a masterclass in traditional craftsmanship, handwoven with fine, high-quality wool that has aged gracefully over time. The piece showcases the hallmarks of classic Kerman design, an elaborate central medallion surrounded by richly detailed floral arrangements, vine scrolls, and boteh motifs.

The field is rendered in a deep pomegranate red, softened by age into a warm, glowing tone. The large central medallion blooms outward with layers of palmettes, rosettes, and stylised foliage in shades of midnight blue, ivory, coral, and soft teal. These colours create a beautiful interplay, adding movement and dimension to the overall composition.

Framing the medallion are four corner spandrels shaped like scalloped cartouches, mirroring the floral intensity of the central motif. The multiple borders are equally ornate, each band brimming with scrolling vines, Shah Abbasi flowers, and geometric detailing in jewel-like colours.

A gentle abrasion and patina throughout the rug tell the story of its age, enhancing its authenticity and warmth. Light fading and natural wear give it a painterly effect, almost as though the design has been gently brushed into the wool over the years.
