This vintage Bakhtiyar Persian rug is a striking example of tribal craftsmanship from the Bakhtiari nomads of western Iran, renowned for their bold use of colour and floral symbolism. At the centre lies a powerful diamond-shaped medallion rendered in rich crimson and brick red tones, set against a dark charcoal field that intensifies the visual impact of the central motif. The medallion is densely packed with stylised floral elements, geometric vines, and abstracted tree-like forms, reflecting the weavers’ deep connection to nature and garden aesthetics.

The field is framed by intricately designed corners that mirror the medallion’s palette, creating a balanced and symmetrical composition. Surrounding this is a series of finely drawn borders, including a main border in vibrant red with continuous rosettes and leafy vine scrolls, flanked by smaller guard borders featuring repeating floral and vine motifs.

Woven with hand-spun wool and natural dyes, the rug exhibits a lustrous pile and a harmonious blend of colours, including crimson, ivory, olive green, rose, and deep navy.
