This vintage Baluch prayer rug features a classic stepped mihrab design woven in deep madder red with accents of indigo, black, and soft camel tones, all arranged in a grid of angular tribal guls typical of Baluch craftsmanship. Its narrow geometric borders frame the composition with repeating diamonds and hooked motifs, adding rhythm and intricacy. The rug shows notable wear across the lower and right sections, where the pile has thinned to a warm, muted base, giving it the soft patina and character that come with prolonged use. Hand-knotted in wool by Baluch weavers from the Afghanistan–Iran region, it reflects both Islamic prayer-rug structure and the bold, earthy aesthetic of nomadic tribal design.
