This beautiful vintage Turkmen rug is centred on three bold, stepped octagonal guls arranged in a vertical line across a deep red field. Delicate geometric details within the medallions are echoed by the small repeated motifs and intricate bands of pattern surrounding them. Rich madder red is balanced with dark brown and near-black tones, while tiny touches of ivory, yellow and green bring subtle highlights throughout. Its layered borders create a beautifully framed composition, and the softly timeworn surface and fringed ends add to its authentic character. A striking tribal rug with a warm, traditional palette, it brings depth and a strong sense of heritage to a room.
