SIZE: 3.3 X 2 FT.
ORIGIN: TURKEY
CIRCA: 1980s
MATERIAL: PURE WOOL
This is a vintage Turkish kilim woven from pure wool. It features a charming and rustic design rooted in Anatolian folk traditions.
The kilim comprises horizontal bands in alternating tones of soft cream, deep terracotta, and muted blue. Each cream and terracotta stripe is decorated with stylised tree-of-life motifs in varied colours, symbolising growth and protection. Scattered within the pattern are small animal figures, possibly representing goats or rams, which add a playful, pastoral touch to the composition.
Thin decorative bands with tiny diamond motifs separate each main stripe, lending rhythm and structure to the layout. The ends are finished with simple fringes, enhancing its handmade authenticity.
This flat-woven piece blends simplicity with cultural symbolism, making it ideal as a decorative accent or wall hanging. Its warm palette and primitive motifs reflect the spirit of rural Turkish weaving and traditional nomadic artistry.
